Hello I have a problem with my RR when starting off -
It loses power at around 3.5k revs when going uphil - it only does this once then it’s ok until I stop again for maybe an hour then it does the same thing - I’ve had the transmission fluids and filter changed but still doing it.

any help would be grateful

I would recomend a leak off test.
Each injector gives fuel back to the fuel tank at a rate which is almost identical to each other.
Any injector that leaks more fuel under load will drop the pressure in the fuel rail and alert the ecu. It'll cut the fuel pressure to protect the engine. Any codes that can be read through diagnostics can help to rule out or find the problem.
Uphill driving and heavy throttle can bring this on if it is the case.
A scan for faults is a must. ;)

Could a faulty fuel pressure regulator also cause this? mine was a bit sluggish going up steep'ish slip roads onto the motorway just before it gave up completely.

Yip,. It can. But with out a code to set us off in the right direction.. We are merely sheep in a field of darkness without battery's in our sheep torches... Man, it's late and I'm bloody tired.... I'm out! :p;)

there are three pumps on the diesel , I seam to remember @holidaychicken having an issue with the turbo over boosting throwing it in to a wobbler.
I did indeed but need codes as above, I had overboost code, revs would build as it held onto 3rd or 4th uphill to join motorway and then would die. Can only be fuel or turbo I guess. I think part of the problem was a faulty connection on the transfer box causing a late shift. I had to back the turbo actuator rod right off to prevent overboost even after rebuilding turbo.
****ing in the wind without codes though.
One easy way to tell if overboost is to pull the vacuum pipe off the turbo actuator which means it’s sluggish at bottom end but the VVT is in max rpm position unless turbo vanes are stuck ..
