Friend of a friend was driving his diesel V6 L322 of 2002 vintage, went through a puddle (now I can't say with any conviction how deep this puddle was, but I imagine it was deeper than an average one, but not so deep as a very deep one o_O) and the dash lights flickered, radio went out and I think (can't confirm) it may have conked out!

Anyway, it seemed to come back to life, no more flickering and away it went, but the radio went off and stayed off.

He has checked the fuse box, the boot floor, spare wheel well and all that and it's apparently dry.

Is it possible the alternator got wet and caused a problem?

Or could it be a different reason for the radio going off at exactly that moment and staying off?

I don't know enough about the L322 to comment so asking for a friend.....of a friend :D

Thank you all :)

Well they never made a V6 L322.....Maybe his I6 has suddenly snapped in twain and rotated 90deg! :D:D:D:D

Any how, whilst he says he chaecked the boot floor spare wheel well etc - did he check the Near Side rear quarter where the DSP/BM54/Sat Nav and associated gubbins is?? it is well known for these to get wet.

If it was a deep enough puddle, lots of things can get wet - fine tooth comb time and ensure all the connections in the rear are dry and corrosion free.

Good call both, thank you.

I was told it's one of the 1st V6 diesels.... I did wonder, but didn't question. I don't think the falvour of the engine is relevant though :D

I'll pass on those idea's, but keep them coming in case it may be specific.

Thanks Saint Freelanderer :p:D and Col

Check the output voltage of the Alt with a multimeter

;)

Mind you i wouldn't trust the owners description if he doesn't know what engine it has ;)

Probably drove it through a river ;)
