Hi all, a mate at work (he is a member here "davelts" but is yet to post) has the above vehicle.

He appears to have an intermittent HDC light and a permanant engine management light, the vehicle starts and runs perfectly.

Anyone live in the Brentwood/Essex area with diagnostics to read clear a couple of fault codes would be helpful, or failing that does anyone have any pointers.

We know that the engine bay wiring loom can cause fault codes but where does he look for damage/faults, the whole loom or are there a couple of problamatic areas to check.

If it was only getting an amber ! Hdc light then it's likely the throttle pedal switch but as it has a MIL on as well then it could well be the throttle position sensor (throttle pot) on the throttle body. The only way to tell for sure is with an OBD 2 reader ;)
Provided the loom is following the factory route then they don't generally suffer damage as much as the 4 cylinder engine.

Update:

The vehicle in true LR style has now turn off its warning lights, until its next hizzy fit, does anyone have a freelander nanocom or hawkeye in the Brentwood area to help out.

It's an intermittent problem. It's the switch contacts not always making propper contact.
