My Freelanders engine cuts out after 15-20 miles in hot weather and won't restart for an hour or two. I was advised that it could be the crankshaft sensor or camshaft sensor, both of which have since been replaced, yet the problem remains.

The OBD II code reader only shows the following fault: PO340 - Camshaft Position Sensor Circuit Malfunction - Bank 1 circuit malfunction. (before and after the camshaft sensor replacement). All of the wires in the circuit appear to be in good condition.

Looking for any advice on what could be causing the problems and if anyone has experienced similar issues before I send the car off to a Land Rover garage. Apologies if this is in the wrong section.

I could be a fuel pump or filter problem too. Mine is an earlier motor with a distributor and it did the same thing. The problem seems to come right after things cool off ... I mistakenly thought that the problem may have been electrical so I replaced the plug leads, rotor and distributor cap but no improvement. Then I replaced the fuel pump and problem was sorted. My FL1 had done 180000km on the original pump. I looked at the filter when I removed the old pump and it was quite clogged with a grey particulate-like mass.
