Hi All
Had an incident today. Reverse kept jumping out from R to 3 after a couple of seconds. Went up and down the gate. Did it again and again. Repeated up and down the gate and after about 3 minutes panic appears to be clear.....but unnerving and need to know the reason. Had a friend check the cable linkage as I operated the gate and that appears to be sound and true without any play so we are both guessing oil level.
Are we correct? I know where the level screw is but where is the filler and why is there no transmission oil level stick to check?
All observations very welcome.
Cheers
Simon

level screw at the front is the filler, you fill till it just overflows at the level plug with engine running box in neutral, dont switch engine off till plug is back in

I seem to remember you have to go thru all the gears, then go to neutral before checking the level with the engine still running

Blimey even my old BSA Lightning had a dip stick. Talk about antiquated.....but thanks for the info.
A. will it be a fix for my reversing problem.
B. am I right in thinking there is a filter in there to change?

When you say went up and down the gate, was it you who moved the lever physically or the gearbox lever lights lit up in succession ?
