Hi there
I am having issues with my 200tdi
Under full acceleration it dies down to idel revs but if I only hath pedal it it goes up fine
Even if just rev it hard while parked up it dies. But reving slowly it works fine

Hi Rob welcome to Landyzone, don’t forget to say hello in the introduce yourself forum
I’ve just put my rebuilt 200di in my series 3 so new engine has been a learning curve
I had some thing similar a couple of weeks back , turned out it was too much air getting in the fuel pump
If you stop engine when it’s playing up and remove bleed screw from top of fuel filter you will prob see it I sent full and it will need to be primed again

you can get some clear tube from B& Q I think it’s 8mm bore to fit from fuel filter to injection pump and run it after priming any air you will see in pipe
If so I would look for air getting in between tank and inlet side of lift pump
The other thing you can try is a gravity feed from fuel can to inlet pump with good hose as a check
The other things is a blocked fuel filter causing fuel starvation the above test will help with that
Or a duff lift pump perhaps with split diaphragm

Any work done recently?
Checked air and fuel filters?
Throttle cable catching any wiring? loads wiring on that side of the engine.

Had similar on my 200tdi but she had been standing for 10 years, done all the usual stuff put a gravity feed to the Injection pump, the old diesel smelled like paint stripper so dumped it and put in fresh, cleaned the sedimenter
New fuel filter,
It ran better but still wouldn’t get it’s high revs, Turn out I had corrosion inside the injection pump and the injectors were partially blocked,
Sent the lot off to be reconditioned, now she runs sweet as a nut:)

Same guys I used, very impressed with the returned units,

Thanks Europa, sent out enquiries to a number of refurb'/rebuild houses. Diesel Bob came back with good quality email and correctly priced costs.Having the injectors stripped, cleaned and rebuilt with new balanced injector heads at the same time. The new engine should purr like a kitten...well, as purring as any uprated 200tdi can ever purr...rat-a-tat-a-tat-a-tat!
