200 tdi heat sensor under reading help.

Hi there,

My 200tdi temperature gauge always says that the engine is cool. I have done the normal checks to make sure that the gauge is working and just replaced the heat sensor with a genuine part. I checked the thermostat and water pump and all is ok. but still my temperature gague is saying that the engine isnt warming up.....any ideas?

how long have you had it ?

where does the pointer sit on the gauge ?

it points just at the start of the white when it is fully warmed up,noticed the problem about 2 weeks ago. any ideas?

was that about the same time as you started to wear your big coat outdoors ?

the heaters not working that well either if thats what you mean?tired to bleed the water system but still same problem???????

When you checked the stat what did you do? Might be opening too early and staying open too long, effectively overcooling the engine.

im not sure what temp the stat open at ill check it again tomorrow and measure the temp. thanks for you help

thanks for all your help, it was a air lock in the system, under the radiator. all sorted now thanks again.

Hi, how did you remove the airlock?

I think I may have the same trouble on my defender 90 - 1993.
