Just put a 200tdi into my def 90 and replaced the clutch at the same time. put the engine and got it running. just bled the clutch system but the clutch still isnt disengaging!! any ideas on the problem?? clutch release bearing? or could i ov done the bolts that hold the clutch on too tight?? only 2 thing i can think of!! Please help as need to get it running asap!! 2mz with any luk :S

did you make sure the clip was in place?
easy to check for the rod, harder for release bearing, is there resistance at the pedal?

yer ther is pressure on pedal and system all bled. no, the original one had dissapeared and the new one didnt hav one. apparently not needed once on, is just used to stop it fallin off when lining up :D

so you've got a good pedal, which means the release bearing is in contact with the pressure plate, yet you can't select gears.

nope. basically ive replaced the clutch plates, release bearing, and both master and slave cylinders. tryed to move the car the other day and it wouldnt go into gear. could hear gears grinding in reverse and loads of resistance and no noise or anythin for 1-5. bled the hole system several times and hav got good presure on the pedal. wondering if it was stuck so started with it in gear but that didnt help. if you press the clutch dwn you keep going so the plates arnt dissengaging.

seemed to be a lot of air in the system if that helps. tho that could be cos the hole system was drained. also, i dnt no as i wasnt on the pedal, but the pedal would stopjust short of the floor, then when i undid the bleed screw all the pressure went, tho this decreased and eventually dissapeard the more we bled it. dnt no if this has anythin to do with it

so the more you bled it the less pressure there was, go back bleed it properly and it will work

pipe from bleed valve into jar. one person pressed clutch dwn, bleed valve opened until no more bubbles coming from pipe. valve closed and clutch pedal released. repeated untill no air bubbling out.

each time the pedal is at down close the bleed nipple before lifting pedal, then open just before the pedal is pressed back down, again at bottom lock off and continue, give this a try works for me, just done my clutch 3 weeks ago

will do. 99.999% sure thers no air in ther tho. (unless ive got a leak) which i dnt thnk i do as no visible signs of fluid leakin. any other ideas on what it could be?? any chance at all tht ill hav to split the engine and gearbox? thers definatly pressure in the hydraulic system
