I've just been browsing the net as i'm thinking of getting my injectors cleaned, and I came accross this Diesel Purge Mercedes diesel maintenance tips, so then I had a quick look on ebay and bought this Liqui Moly Diesel Purge 1 Litre on eBay (end time 09-Jan-11 21:03:36 GMT)
so now I'm going to give it a try on my 200tdi. Has anyone on here used this stuff in the same way i.e. neat straight through the injection pump? I'm very interested to see if this works as good as the guy say's it does.

Well I've just had my injectors tested at my local diesel specialist and found that 3 out of the 4 injectors were dribbling at low pressure, this I am told would show up as a poor tickover and possibly be the culprit of the little bit of white smoke on start up. I now have a couple of options, new nozzles on my injectors at £52 each, don't bloody think so, or try the cleaning/purge method as previous post. So for the £11 it's cost for the purge/cleaner I'm going to giv it a try and see what the results are. I'm tempted to take the injectors back to have them tested after I have put the cleaning solution through them, I'll post the results later.

Got a good reputation that stuff.

Best bet is to fill your fuel filter with it, and have bugger all diesel in you're tank, so when it returns to your tank, it doesn't dillute much.

Then take for a "italian tuneup" only topping up tank if you run dry.

Biodiesel is also very good at cleaning your fuel system, if you can get hold of proper stuff local to you (ie not veg oil with solvents added).

i've just used this molyslip diesel purge, when it was running through i noticed the engine tickover increase slightly so I then blipped the throttle a couple of times and then let it idle again. The tickover is much steadier now and the engine seems a bit smoother than it did before, so £11 well spent I think.

My uncle (mechanic for 20 years and was a land rover apprentice) told me to pour injector cleaner straight into the fuel filter because if you pour it into the tank, it's too diluted to do much. I did it and never had any problem.

Yep that's what Molyslip suggest for theirs.

Sometimes a bit easier said than done.
