Whats the difference between a 200tdi and a 300tdi power steering pump?

As im looking on paddocks and theres a big difference in price!

Mines a 200tdi Disco engine btw :)

Cheers Scott

Just the shape and the way that it mounts as far as I'm aware. You could make yourself a bracket and then simply bolt a 300tdi pump onto it. The connection threads might be different (not 100% sure) but all in all, you could make a 300tdi pump suit for a lot less money than you'd spend on a 200tdi pump.

Cheers Pos, how are ya mate?

Iv just put in a 'reconditioned steering box' i got from Paddocks, the old one wasnt leaking (Got it from a scrappers 20 quid) but it felt very hard and lumpy at times when turning. So stumped up for the reconditioned one.

Fitted it, and although the 'lumpy' feeling had gone, its still harder to turn than it should be......Is this the pump??

On top of this theres a slight leak coming from the bottom of the box (where the drop are is)...... Very disappointed!

I'm good thanks, and yourself? :) Im currently in the process of revamping my fuel injection system. I installed some new nozzles myself (£80 supplied by Horrocks Diesel Services in Pudsey) and I've just had the pop pressures set today (£50 all in at Horrocks Diesel Services). I also managed to bag an absolute bargain on eBay. £300 for a brand new, genuine (not reconditioned) Bosch 200tdi Injection Pump, which I intend to install tomorrow morning!

As for your steering box situation, it sounds like you've been sold a pile of ****e. If you clean the area where it is leaking around the drop arm and then rock the steering wheel back and forth with the engine running, does more fluid appear? Personally, Id be on the phone to Paddocks to request they swap it for another. A new box certainly shouldn't be leaking and it will only get worse and dump the contents of your power steering reservoir all over the road. As for the stiffness, it may well be caused by the fluid leak it's self. The box relies on the hydraulic pressure created by the pump in order to drive the box when you turn the steering wheel. If there's a leak, you're loosing hydraulic pressure and therefore the steering will feel stiffer.

Paddocks should swap it, the sooner you give them a call the better. I'd ask them for a freebie just for the arsing about! They are known to be twits when it comes to swapping or refunding things mind.
