What are the big differences between an early 70s 2 door and an early 80s one, re panels etc?
TIA
TIA
Why do you what to know?
Front wings ,bonnet, roof ,tail gate top and bottom all the same
Not sure what you mean.
The back end ,do you mean the tail gate as the back end of a Range Rover has never changed.
Rear wings , doors and main body shell are different.
I did not know the shell unbolted just the panels.
The two door has different rear outer wings and also different rear inner panels and that's as far as my knowledge goes.
Well, neither did I
Maybe they don't but it's what I've been told.
When you say different wings, do you mean between a 2 door and a 4 door, or 2 doors between the different eras?
Yes that's what I mean.
Different between 2 door and 4 door ,age I think makes no difference.
Have you got a 2 door Range Rover?
No, I'm in the hunt for a good example.
Several that I've seen in recent months have had rear ends from 80s 2 doors bolted on.
I was wondering if the rear ends from the 80s 2 doors were actually different as they look identical to me.
usually just the later lights being put on to update them atad as the originals can be hard to come by to replace damaged items and as spence said about the bottom tailgate
you need summit to read
Original Range Rover book on eBay (end time 28-Dec-10 20:55:54 GMT)
Are you talking about the bottom tail gate?
Early ones have a lever and later ones have a handle and no swing number plate mount.
The upper tail gate is the same.
No, the metal shell that surrounds the tailgate from the doors back, the rear part of the body.
Apparently it is a separate part and several 72 cars have had 80s rear shells fitted in replacement.
I think maybe I have answered your question as they are the same but the cut outs for the rear lights are different but you can alter the holes I'm sure or just use which ever lights fit
