Must be just on your evidence alone!!!!

Third engine? how many miles did each do, thats crazy. TD5's seem to do major mileage without problems................

How many hours to remove and then refit the engine ? Most indys reckon the LR way of body removal is better overall than just pulling the engine out.I have a rear belt to do in the morning on a D3 - deep joy....

Rear belt lovely , not , only good news is automatic tensioner and no timing up , but horrible to do .removing engine mounts lowers engine but super tight . Engine change is meant to be about 20 hours , but replacement engine needs building up so i look at 3 days solid

A tip that helps me on the pump belts. Remove battery and tray and engine wiring, don't get me wrong you will still have red raw arms but its easier and I find it faster to do.

Nah,dont bother with that, just put duct tape over the sharp edges and remove the coolant pipe over the top of the engine.Done loads - alot of places dont bother....
Very glad to have small hands and and arms though.

I've done the same when changing them,it does help but they are still a mare

hello there a few years ago i was serving a 55 plate discovery 3 went on road test all of a sudden engine died oil light didnt come on so towed it back to work carried out various tests and found the crankshaft the have snapped iv heard of this a few times cheers mike

This was my original question at the start of this thread, ive just finnished engine change number 3,not the same vehicle i might add :), and they all sufferd with snaped cranks.
I wasnt driving any of them so cant say if oil lights etc came on or not , but seems to be becoming a regular fault !
