Hi
A mate of mine out here in France has had a lovely 2001 year Range Rover P38 2.5 DSA Auto for over 5 trouble free years and the Auto box has just started playing up and wont change gear under 4000rpm !
He has changed the ECU under the seat, checked all sensors, even changed the Auto box for a know working second hand one and nothing has worked.
Box goes up and down all gears, but wont change up until min 4000rpm even when cold . There are no fault codes and this did'nt happen after a gearbox oil change !
Any help appreciated as it's a lovely vehicle but he has had enough and so far 3 garages can't find the fault !
Cheers

Cheers mate ! I had heard about this !
Apparently it has been checked but not changed ! Got to be worth changing if they don't cost the earth !
can anybody add to this or got a part n° ?

it is the green temp sender in the head between 4 and 5 cylinder not expensive change it .Nanacom will not pick up this fault .check connector as well make shure its got good contact with the termoinals

I have googled this problem and the sensor STC 2299 beyond believe and can't believe after all this vehicle has been through and had done to it could all be down to a sensor but at £7.99 has got to be worth a punt !
Anybody else had this same problem ?
Thank you all for your help ;-)

Moral of the story, post on the forum first.;)

I had a faulty temp sensor on mine, stopped it staying in "torque lockup" when the temp gauge dropped a little before twelve o'clock. It was the head of the sensor being loose and fuzzy green.
We are 40mins north of Bordeaux.;)
Big area Poitou Charente..

A big thankyou is in order "Thankyou" , 5 months later, 3 different garages & one gearbox the problem has now been solved with a £7.99 sensor part N° STC2299 .
We now have a very HAPPY Range Rover P38 owner thanks to you geezers !
Have a good one ;)
