Hi all,
I am just about to start on rebuilding 2 x 2.25 engines, I did the same about 5 years ago and know I had some problems with the setting of the dissy gear in relation to the camshaft. A member on the old site posted a very good reply as how to do it, but allas now gone. Could somebody with the knoweledge please advise how to set gear and, and check height of the piston.

thanks

Hi all,
Have looked back at my old posts and i am still a bit unsure.
So is there any one out there with the knowlwdge on how to align the cam shaft with the distributor drive gear. 2.25 / 2.5 petrol

Thanks in advance
Rabet

presumably cam is timed to crank and chain fitted ,
turn engine to tdc so that no4 valves are on the rock ie both valves partially open and no 1 valves are both fully shut,if you look at skew gear the master spline/slot should face forwards but 20 degrees toward engine from front dizzy locating bolt, you can then fit coupling which should only fit one way as the slot is offset, dizzy can the be fitted so rotor arm faces no 1 plug lead pole in the cap

Hi Jamesmartin, and thanks for your info,
Could you just confirm which position should number 1 plug lead be in please.

front most pole on cap give or take a little, there are 2 tdcs you need the one were both no1 valves rockers both have play ie you could get a feeler gauge in and no4 are both slightly open so both rockers are under tension
