So. Freelander 1 Td4, About a year ago I had my clutch replaced together with the DMF and release bearing.
But in the last week on some occasions I noticed my clutch would slip when on 3rd gear and pusshing it just after turbo kicks in at around 1.5k revs. Engine is not remapped.
All gears go in smoothly and can stall the engine if I want with hhe brakes. Happens after about a mile of driving and not all the time. Have been drivingbthe car more carefully since having yhe clutch done as in no un necissary slipping not resting the foot on the clutch pedal etc... since it was an expensive job.
The only recent work done is replacing the OIL cooler near the oil filter housing since I had oil in the coolant expantion tank and now its fixed. Also replaced fluids while at it and turbo breather filter.

Anyone had same problem or similar?

Mine are autos so not had that problem!! Was there a warrentee?? Can't think of anything that would present as clutch slip and not be. Any smell of clutch? Does it slip on hills in low gear, worth a test? Otherwise see if garage that fitted it would like to comment?!

Still has to be inspected by the mechanic. After asking on several groups I'm being told it may be an oil leak in the housing. (Crank seal or gearbox seal). Which makes sense although it doesn't do it all the time and happened after an oil change. It usualy slips on 3rd gear when the turbo kicks in and especially when pushed and sometimes on a hill. although its not that bad but Still its not right.

Apart from the obvious - poor quality parts - it could be the crank or box seal. You might see oil dripping from between bellhousing and engine in this case.

It seems silly not to have changed the crank seal at least. A lot of work goes into stripping down that far.

Perhaps the seal wasn’t leaking at the time, and they chanced it, or maybe they damaged the seals by refitting the gearbox roughly.

I hope you’re getting a different mechanic to look at it...
