Hi, around 2800rpm the engine backs off power slightly when going up hills, I also get this error code on the reader.

Injection timing deviation.
1)Break or short on line, plug connection or at needle lift sensor.
2)Engine speed derived from needle lift sensor signal is implausible when compared to engine speed derived from crank position sensor.

Regards Lee.

Needle lift sensor monitors the operation of the injector. Could be wiring fault, check connections on injectors. Ideally test injector operation with osciloscope.

Hi, I didn't like the condition of the connector on the lift sensor so I directly soldered it. My code reader gets continuous reading but this is only at idling (not tried it driving yet). Are they still available as a part and are they easy to change?

Thanks Lee.

Looks like the part number is MSC100610 - and they're not cheap.

Definitely a lot of money to spend if it is something else.

The whole injection setup is Bosch, dunno if you can take the car along to the Bosch service center and get them to diagnose it.

OK thanks for your help.
I have read resistance across the lift sensor so I know its not open circuit and also I see readings from the sensor on the fault code reader, but all the time at 2800 rpm the power backs off, strange one this one!
