I have a 1997 Land Rover 300 TDI DEFENDER R380 gearbox. Wondering if anyone has used Liqui Moly 15W-40 diesel oil? Any thoughts or recommendations on full synthetic oil vs standard semi-synthetic oil?

thanks for the help

Ignore semi and syn oils, you want old jollap mineral 15/40, posh oil is a waste of money in the tdis.

There is no need to upgrade (and I use that word sarcastically) the oil from what was specced when they were current.

Take a look at Mannol on ebay in 20 litre tubs.

That will knacker it. Just get cheap mineral oil.

I have reported your post, as you posted in the wrong section. It will be moved later.

agree with the above, regular changes and straight mineral oil. They are not really fussy engines when it comes to the oil they take but fancy oil will not increase the service interval and it will still need changing every year or 6k miles.

Fancy oil will probably go past the oil control rings, glaze the bores, and eventually scuff the pistons.
