Hi All,

New forum member and poster here. I thought I would start with an easy one that I am sure is pretty standard knowledge here in the community.

I have a 1993 D1 (3 Door) and am looking at replacing the bonnet. Would a bonnet from any D1 model fit? I have found one from a 5 door 1996 that looks like a suitable replacement.

To add to this, would the same apply to the front guard fitting?

Thanks all in advance and I look forward to more involvement.

Welcome to lz bud...…..….
The D1s have all the same bonnet although you might have some trouble fitting a rear door to yours :p;)

Thanks man....
I just got a tip off from a local Land Rover garage saying any model after 'MA' in the Chassis Number wont suit (bonnet, guard, etc)... It appears mine is a 'KA'.
Can you elaborate on the rear door comment, just out of interest!?
Thanks again.

What year difference is the KA to the MA any pics of the bonnet, I take it when you mean guard..... called the front grill in the UK I don't recall any facelift models to the D1 here may be different where you are?? (I will stand corrected though)

Ref the doors yours is a 3 door & the one your getting parts from is a 5 door hence the rear joke (keep up lad lol)

I dont know the year difference between KA and MA (I do know KA is 93 as that is my car). I am trying to work that out... Also there are no pics of the bonnet as yet, I was just told it was a 96. I'm waiting on a chassis number confirmation.

In terms of 'guard' maybe you refer to it as the front wing or flare over there? That is interesting that guard over in UK is front grill.

Regarding the doors... that went WAY over my head, I thought you were talking about the rear boot door so I was thrown off. Wasnt ready for the forum banter and jokes! Good one though!

Bonnets fit from 89 to 98 on a D1, MA was upgrade to the 300Tdi which was facelifted but essentially they just gave it bigger lights and dropped the old Sherpa headlights ala British Leyland parts bin LOL wings are the same, virtually nothing changed panel wise for a decade of production.

Your 3 door 200Tdi will be quite rare these days :)

Hi and thank you for the info. I did a VIN check and decode using https://www.dingocroft.co.uk/acatalog/vin_numbers.htm
My VIN is SALLJGBF7KAxxxxxx; The VIN from the other car is SALLJGMF3WA. From this I have gathered the only difference is the 3 door vs 5 door and 1993 production vs 1998 production.

Based on your and Kevstars replies, I see this bonnet/wing being suitable for my 'quite rare' 3 door!?

I attached images of the 98 D1.

Thanks.

Yeah, they all fit, you could grab the headlights and grille if you wanted and upgrade your front end too but with relays in your original lights they'll be plenty bright enough :)
