Has anyone replaced the headlining material on their 110 or 90 before? I’m currently away from home and would like to order in some material ready for the job - I’ve seen a few places sell original kits at 62” width, but the wife and I would like to do our own thing, and have seen a perforated vinyl we’d like to use, but at 52” wide I’m a little worried it won’t be wide enough.

If anyone’s had a bash I’d love to hear.

(I had asked martrim about previous customers requests but they only answered other questions in a not very informative way).

I think the width of mine was 137 cm. It was more than wide enough but to line horizontal (so not wide enough to cover front to back if that makes sense?). Vinyl is four way stretch (best if a thin cloth backing rather than thick as it's not as stretchy), seal your headliner after stripping and before recovering, Trimfix spray, wallpapering seam roller, blades, scissors ... my headliner was in a bad state so I also fibreglass to strengthen and didn't aspire to perfection as it was never gonna happen. Before refitting, put a 2" wide strip of velcro on your roof above the alpine lights and put the other corresponding strip on your headliner before installing. I liked this from my local fabric shop, so that's what I used:

That’s reassuring - cheers for the info, and that job you’ve done is spot on! - great choice of material, those lights are something else! Ours won’t be as luxurious!!

What did you use to seal your headliner?

Some are using pva. Some diluted acrylic varnish. Some emulsion. It's just to make the felty card stuff less pourous for the trimfix spray plus easier to give a quick rub down with sand paper to smooth the bumpiest bits before gluing the headliber on.

Spot on - I had considered pva, but emulsion sounds like a reasonable shout to me, as I’ve got plenty sat around!!

Looking forward to getting the job done!
