Hi all!

Firstly new to the forum- although been on here many times for advice and guides so thanks and hello!

I have a new project, a 1984 110 that's been sat outside on the farm for the last 10 or so years.

I would really appreciate some advice and inspiration on this one. I have already decided on a new galv chassis. But I am undecided on all the rest.

The bulkhead looks fairly good surprisingly, although needs complete new interior dash. Also needs new rear tub. What I can't decide on is engine upgrade etc?

- which engine? I'm thinking 300tdi and can buy galv chassis accordingly
- upgrade to td5 bulkhead or look around for original dash
- keep rear tub or look for utility back or station wagon perhaps?
- try and keep as close to original 1984 look as possible or upgrade visually, grills/lights etc

I know a lot of it is based on personal preference but I'm interested to get other peoples opinions and ideas to help with my decision making. Is also going to need a full respray- I've seen some great dark grey and black combinations that I like but then the original colours look great also apart from my 110 original brown colour!

Apologies if this is posted incorrectly etc. Any comments will be great!

If you are getting a new chassis and engine, bulkhead and rear tub isn't it going to end up like Trigger's broom?

Hello mate, cool project. If it was mine and I was keeping it for a fun vehicle, I would keep it original. I actually like the cream over brown colour to. How about dropping in a V8 !

:D Haha Yes I know what you mean! I'm hoping bulkhead is okay so just need to get a new interior dash. But other than that most of it will be changed. Rear tub is in bad condition and tailgate has been bodged. I could keep original engine but I think a 300tdi would be much nicer to drive.

I still need it to be a practical farm vehicle though, a V8 would be great but expensive to run.

most landys endup like trigers broom :rolleyes:i know mine is  hard to keep "original" if you want it nice ..i will be watching with eager anticipation ,of another build thread :D

I will of course get photos and do a write up when it begins, I think this could be quite a slow and time consuming build!

300tdi and hi cap is how I'm going to go. So on the lookout for:

Good condition rear tub
Complete dash
Mot failure disco 300tdi

I keep seeing the old mod auctions for new tubs a few years ago, shame I missed out on those.

Hi,
I have a very similar story for my 1984 110 HiCap which also came from a farm!
The guy I bought my Landy from was a trader who part exchanged it from a farmer for a newer Land Rover.
The trader told me when they saw my 110 it was covered in algae and moss and looked a sorry mess having not driven in almost a decade, apparently the farmer kept it for sentimental reasons!
The trader said while they were waiting for a trailer to take it from the farm to the scrap yard as they never expected it to move. While they were waiting they found the key and for fun tried to start it, to their amazement it started and drove pretty well, considering its history!
They gave it one last chance before scrapping it and stuck it through an MoT, which it passed after a small amount of work.
They stuck it on eBay and after one sale fell through I turned up and bought it in February last year
How is your 110 doing? I hope you kept the original classic brown colour
I’ve only just joined the site but I’ll try and post some photos shortly!

I’d go for the 300Tdi and galvy chassis, a nice new interior and a respirator in the original colour. Finish it off with a nice set of limestone wolf rims with decent tyres!

Don’t forget some pics when you’ve done the above!:D
