02 freelander back seat

Hi all,
apologies if you have seen this post elsewhere, new to this forum and only just figured my way round it...

The catch on my rear seat won't release the seat so I can't fold it down. Any ideas/instructions on how to get the back off the seat so I can fix the mechanism?

I had this prob with mine,I wanted to put a dog guard in couldnt get the seat to move asked around mine has 2 seats in the rear not 3 so kept getting told " maybe the 2 seats dont move" lol , we removed the bit between the seats and could see a clip had come off one of the bars that slide up and down so it was waving about in the breeze, holding the bar inplace let us lift the seat, it was easy then to put on a new clip and all fine now.

Thanks, I don't think mine has the same kind of seats, I've taken the cover off the middle bit but i think that bit only comes into play as the seat tips forward. I'll have another go tho'

Thought I'd post my question here.My rear lh seat catch lever broke a long time ago,I fixed it by attaching a strip of plastic banding to it.That quick fix held up well until a week or 2 ago.Today I had to drop the seat and it wouldnt open,so i tugged on the cable with a vice grips and broke the cable.I tried to remove the handle carefully with my hatchet first tool that came to hand.
well now the whole handle mechanism is fugked and I cant feel anything like a latch inside.I dont suppose anyone has an idea other than slashing the seat to see what im doing..Any ideas welcome...?
