Hi all.

Looking to buy for my father in law. He would really like a Rangerover after driving mine for a while. Whatever he buys is likely to be his main driver for the remaining years...and will be over in the north of Spain so really it needs to be LHD.

A mixture of advice and direction is required I guess. A list of things he likes/wants

- black exterior and a white/cream leather interior
- side steps either permanent or the deployable ones (only on newer models, I know)
- lowish mileage - sub 50-60k
- preferably a diesel
- Vogue would be the preferred option.

Happy to look/buy anywhere in the UK. Ultimately I'll be driving it over to Spain next year for him. We have been looking at cars over in Spain however they are generally more expensive due to the rarity over there.

I did find a nice tdv8 in black with white leather and the deployable steps but it was 5k over budget.

Does such a thing exist within budget at all? And, the ever important question...are the layer L322 cars more reliable than the earlier ones?

Sons father in law had same problem, vehicles in Spain are silly money. So when he got tired of the beemer he took over there he drove it back here and sold it, then bought a Merc 4x4. But be careful it is not sprouting after market bits. If it has anything non standard fitted to it it will not pass the IVA test.

There is a garage local to the new place in Spain that will be able to work on it so that won't be an issue. He is Spanish too so rules/regs etc won't be a problem either.

Main issue is finding the car he wants, for the budget really.

Sorry to be pedantic tony but IVA is tax, you mean the ITV test.close;):D:D:D

No mate, IVA is like VAT but at a very much lower rate, 7% I think depending what you'r buying. Defo ITV, mine's due next May on the Clio.;):D:D

You will be correct, i go to Spain once a year not every other month like some lucky buggers. On the subject of VAT i have noticed that Spanish VAT appears to differ across items. Wonder why we don't do that here more, instead of the rip off 20% standard rate. :D;)
