thats what the guy is saying he wants ????? feck off !!!,, i should have asked before he diod it ??? wehat should i do, is that reasonable ??

dont know why people bother getting them crack tested its normally obvious if they are ,was head warped ? still dear for both

If that includes vat then its about right, for round about here anyway.

£100 tops for skim and pressure test.

£60 I pay usually.

That is a serious amount of cash.

You can buy a new bare head for not much more than that...

were the valves seat redone?

Yep defo taking the **** with those prices.

I will check wot my mate paid, possibly not as much tbh. But keep in mind he is getting his crack tested as well.....

was that the complete job head off, skimmed and then refitted??????????

if i remove the head and strip the valves out myself i take them to a dirty little backstreet engineers place i know of that mainly reconditions old engines and get me heads skimmed within the hour for £35 a pop

if i find any cracks in the head with the usual black oil n thinners trick i usually go see our kid for a lend of his bosses tig welder for £10 per hour

right ... no i took head off and stripped it, yes he has re lapped the valves and stuff,

so you reckon 100 tops then... well im going to have a conversation tomorrow, starting with "i cant afford that" ... any ideas how to play him ?

just to point out he doesnt know where i live if that helps with thinking ...

Ask him for a breakdown of the bill and see if he can justify charging you this much!

well i know that now ffs ! .... im fecked, might just tell him i can buy a new engine for that ...
