Hi all. Hope this post is ok on here. I’m doing a week long trip to Lillehammer has anyone done a similar trip and have any advice on places to visit along the way. It will be in august so snow won’t be an issue

Only been there in the winter. Ski tows might be operating which would give access to the high trails and trekking paths.

I've done two trips around June time (driving up the coast road from Gothenburg) driving 1940's vehicles, but the most recent was 20 years ago. Wonderful country & people but can be pricey compared to the UK.

Why Lillehammer? Is it not more picturesque going across to the fjords? A week is not long for a tour? I drove to Oslo a few years ago, but it took me three weeks from the UK (for the full round trip)

Travelling by elephant ?
We were WW2 military vehicle enthusiasts, crossed to Gothenburg from Harwich & toured southern Norway, spent a day in Oslo & travelled as far up as Leira in the Buskerud region & returned to the UK within two weeks. Mind you with the long daylight hours in June (it never really gets dark) we did drive though the night on a couple of occasions, one of which was passing under Oslo via the tunnel on the return trip, what an experience!

Sounds like a great trip. We just took North Sea ferry to Amsterdam and drove from there. We were in a Mondeo estate, which is a lot faster than an elephant, but a similar size. ;)

WW2 Bedford OY 3 tonner in my case. 40 mph & more roomy than an elephant but probably costlier to run, that's without knowing the MPG of your average elephant.

Hi we have now extended this to two weeks and are going right up to the Lofoten islands. Then driving back down to Lillehammer. The reason for the trip is a mountain bike race I want to do. Plus we will be driving right up through Sweden and wild camping

Awesome! Pleased you're taking a bit more time. Well worth it. I've looked up Lofoten. That's a hell of a way up!! Are you actually going over to the Islands? Looks tremendous and I'm very jealous. Enjoy the trip :)
