fuel gauge

Went out for a drive in my D2 td5,the fuel gauge read 3/4 tank,parked up after 1/2 hours driving,when i re started it,the fuel light was on and the needle was at the red mark,after ten miles of driving the needle was back up to the 3/4 mark again,any thoughts please.

Sticking in tank pump level reader thingy? changed mine on the Range Rover and the level sensor had worn out the contact it uses to tell the gauge how full it is. Replace the whole pump and now is pretty spot on (i think)

At least you haven't had to adjust the angle of the float arm, lest your disco runs out of fuel when the gauge shows 1/4 full

I can replace a D2 fuel pump if needs be Gems. It did involve a certain amount of **** taking from Neil after I was struggling with the rubber seal to the tank.....
