I know they are BSP and the parts are about 1/2" across

So I bought a 1/2" BSP tap and it is huge.

So what planet worked this out and what tap should I get?

Thanks

Martin

1/4" bsp, or depends where you got it from, some places have gone all metrified now.. i had the same issue recently , ordered loads of air tooling and it turned up with metric threads... had to order loads of flippin adaptors :(

Aldi special

I will try against my set of metric taps then, but I was pretty sure they were all teh same.

Note for future:- the thread size describes the round bit, not the hexagonal bit, which is usually bigger.

ah the aldi specials use the euro quick connect fittings (or whatever its called) system.

They are a bit different from yer' common fittings and not compatible with other stuff (from what I am aware) very annoying!

yourll want 1/4" bsp taps for the threads though

The thing is with BSP sizes, the stated size represents the hole down the middle of the pipe rather than the size of the screw thread. So a 1/4" BSP is about 1/2" across, to allow for the thickness of the pipe walls.

That is completely illogical!

Anyway the seller will refund.

I know they are Euro, I had to pinch a connector off a impact driver for m airbrush.

I am tapping a TD5 loom plug so I can blow oil out of it

Yes the BSPs have survived metrication quite nicely. They're all over the place still, especially on plumbing fittings. Makes me quite admire them somehow.
