After spending the first weekend cleaning the years of dirt and filth from the inside of my defender, I noticed once the seats were removed, that they had both seen better days

My question has anyone fitted second hand non genuine seats from another manufacturer ??

Ie jaguar bmw vw ect ect
there are plenty on flea bay but which ones will fit with a bit of hacking bodging call it what you will

And if they do, which whould you reccomend ??

Yes. Most car seats will fit in a defender as long as you do some welding to the seat base frame. If you do a search there are lots of people who have fitted different seats in them.

I personally like the idea of RX8 seats in mine, but I also like the centre seat so I guess I couldn't do it.

I also wonder how easy it would be to get to the battery once the new seats are fitted...

oh yes good point, would maybe have to move the battery:eek:

I fitted a range rover classic rear seat up front in my 90, it has arm rests and was just like sitting on a comfy sofa lol, also as a rangey rear seat 60/40 splits it meant I could tip the passenger side fully forward for full access to the battery.

Cheers Steve

ive got a pair of mg seats in great condition im wanting to sell
cheers half leather
cheers

I've got Range rover classic seats in my 110. Not sure how easy it was as I didn't do the work. But front and 2nd row are from a rrc.

Fronts are very easy... just drill 8 holes, insert rivnuts and bolt in the seats

rears need a small amount of arch modification if you want the seat to give decent leg room and actually sit at the height so passengers can see out the windows rather than the alpine lights akin normal ccsw seats :)
