A Honda Civic is a road car full stop. Our difference in opinion is most likely a reflection of our differing needs. My FL to me is a road car - yours is probably more of an offroader. Money no object (if only), I should by a D4 or RRS and you need a tricked out Defender. Realise I'm a BOF on this but I really do believe that the Disco's are the perfect combination - well for me anyway

I think that the D3 is the best all rounder for abiluty, comfort and price . Mate of mine had one and it rocked on and off road. I'd have one in a heartbeat, maybe I will one day.

The freelander is a pretty grey area isn't it, suppose thats why theres so much "controversey" over it's intended purpose. I think maybe it fits a broader spectrum of people than the othewr LR maybe, would explain its success.

So I suppose one could say that the Hippo is a good all rounder, and the D3 (and perhaps late high spec D2's) are excellent all rounders .
