Hey guys,

Just had a lovely journey, for the first time in months I haven't been worried about anything and I could just relax and enjoy the drive. The EWP is now doing its job superbly, I'm getting toasty hot (not warm, HOT) air through the heater at all speeds and the temp guage is rock solid - without the help of any booster pumps. I think that finally, the major issues are sorted.

I'm glad I stuck with the EWP and as a bonus it appears that it's probably only about £300 as a bare minimum to fit so it's not actually all that much now that I know the formula. So for anyone interested just post up or PM me :). The only thing to look for now is the reliability of the parts, and seeing as the big broo-haha was just a blown fuse I'd say they are good ;).

So now I can get onto to trimmins like a new stereo and rubber mats etc :D!

FINALLY the car I knew it would become! Everything working, nice warm cabin and an open road.

Will.

Yep I will do, just collecting my thoughts about it at the moment :). I am sending the knackered EBP and controller back to MAW tomorrow, it'll be a while until that's resolved and I'm not 100% they'll give me the warranty as the parts did fail "outside of normal operation" but we'll see they've been fantastic so far :).

I'm hoping that the biggest payoffd will be the total elimination of heatsoak which fingers crossed will prevent any further HGF altogether as thats the oly problem that the uprated system doesn't solve.

Are your referring to MSL, beefed up oil rail etc etc??

Yes mate, none of those mods cool the engine down after shutdown so after some hot runs you will get a significant spike in head temperature after ignition shutdown, which we think can cause the head to warp over time in some cases. As the electric pump continues to pump coolant around the rad for 2 mins even after the engine is shut down it eliminates this issue entirely - this is one of the main reasons why so many K series Elises were blowing up, massive heat soak after a thrashing causing banana-heads.

Thanks everyone, it's been a long hard journey but I think that we can finally claim a victory for K series Freelander :). I will start work on a full write up soon.

the MSL & rail dont fix the probs. They do, however reduce the chances.

Agree. Just was not sure what Will mean't there. So the MSL fix and his cooling system is about as far as anybody can go with the old K series in a Fleeby to eliminate HGF??

Yes, as far as I know there's really nothing else to be done but MHM may still know of an ace or two.

.....Reason being I'm just weighing up the potential costs of sticking with my for time being - Clutch and crank seal £350, MSL job (if mine fails) £1000, Will's gizmo £300, set of Falken AT's £550. erm two and a bit £k. Realise the HG may not fail - it hasn't yet but???? Thinking out loud, not thread starting!
