Betsy is up for sale as Iv now bought a 130 for work so she is surplus to requirements.
MOT til next March.
1992 on a K plate.
175k.
Terrafirma springs and dampers fitted in last 18 months.
New starter motor last 12 month.
New water pump.
MUDs all round bags of tread left.
And most important in March this year a half chassis was fitted.
I say a half chassis as that's what ended up getting replaced after local Landy specialist eventually found solid metal!

New V5 will need to be applied for as I sold Betsy to a member off here who filled it in then wanted to bring it back!

She's no show pony but she is solid all round. If you like polishing your Landy and sticking plastic crap to it this is NOT the one for you!

If however your after a solid 90 then get in touch. I'm after £2500 or nearest offer.

Hi mate. You got more pics please? What's the front+back layout?
And what engine she got?
How much life you reckon left in the other half of the chassis?

I bought a duffer with a rotten chassis - now a (very) long term rebuild project. Would like my next one to stay on the road for a couple of years at least.

Am after a solid runner which ain't about to fall to pieces, nothing showy. However, I do want a 200TDi so what I learn from stripping down my other one can be applied.

Cheers

Also (sorry):
Is she a natural SW or a converted hard-top?
If a 200TDi, is it Defender (11L) or Disco?
Do you mind sharing the reason why previous buyer did u-turn?
Thanks for any extra info.

The "witty banter" refers to the number of idiots on here who like to waste people's time. If you haven't sold a vehicle on here you may not have experienced this.

Hi all, as the first replier on here I just want to point out that I am not one of the tyre-kickers that Pete has referred to! Never actually heard back about it.

Pete: I'm still interested in pics and more info about Betsy. Will PM you my email address.

I don't know much about mechanics yet but am hoping to improve skills. I got a 200Tdi Defender which is coming off the road soon and would like another one of the same (so what I learn stripping one can be applied to the other). If Betsy is an 11L rather than a Disco conversion then I'm real keen. Especially if she is also a genuine SW and has some life left in the chassis.

Cheers.

The member off here who bought Betsy originally was SVB- I believe her name was Sarah Baylis. To be honest I think she may have romanticised owning a Landy. Not sure if she is still active on the site anymore.

I'm very tempted by Betsy as not much else in that price range that I can find. Am going to view at the weekend but it's a looong way from home. Would be interested to know what others think. If there's something pointed out that I haven't considered then could save both Pete and I some hassle.

Pete: would you mind if I posted your pics here (if the forum will let me)? Others have requested to see pics.

It's the promised solidness of dear Betsy that appeals to me, after gettin' burned once with a rusty rebuild project that was supposed to be roadworthy.

Pete good wiv PM and email, just a bit quiet on here...

He sent pics of Betsy's new quarter/half chassis but not much I can tell from em. It's painted black. Everything else covered in rust. Dunno what to make of it. Hopefully find out at the weekend by having a good old tap round wiv spanner - though I barely know what I'm looking for.

Genuine reason for sale, and he's certainly put in the love and effort to keep Betsy on the road. But she seems to have reached that point where the things go wrong one after another. I'm just feelin kinda nervous about blowing the last of my car budget on something that might be less than satisfactory. I mean, is the fact that so much work done on the chassis a good thing? Or is it an omen about worse **** to come?

I will cope with being mugged once, but don't wanna go there again. If Pete doesn't mind then I can post his pics, and maybe get a second opinion before I travel half the length of the country with my cash in one pocket, a spanner in the other, and an idiotic grin on my face :D

Can't imagine why the seller wouldn't want to post piccies? it would normally help to clinch a sale ...wider audience and all that..

Any thoughts on what can be seen in the above photos? I can see some black bits and some rusty bits, but dunno what is all really means in terms of sturdiness and longevity.

If you feel theres too many idiots on LZ then maybe you should leave and restore the balance.

Still haven't answered the questions people have asked.

This place does have more than its fair share of idiots on it such as the half wits who shoot new members down on asking a simple question then tell them to suck it up. Also I have my hands full running my business so another reason I don't come on here.

its what id expect of a 90 of that age ,poor bulk head and some rot on chassis but whats been repaired has been done a lot better than i normally see ,if it drives fine ,not a bad motor ,you would have a struggle to find one much better ,i see a lot later ones that loook tidier but have as many or more issues with body and chassis ,
