Is this normal?

Lard rover 90 powersteering fluid reservoir. - YouTube

I only ask as you will notice there is oil over the reservoir.
Every now and again, my steering will become lumpy and then the reservoir will 'boil' over and spray oil everywhere.
When this happens I simply bleed the steering box, with the 8mm bleed screw mounted on top of the steering box, and were good to go again.
I suspect when air gets into the system it creates pressure summhow and then fires it out of the 'breathe' hole on the cap.
I have checked unions and tightened up a slightly loose jubilee clip, topped it up and so far its been fine.
But it bubbles and froths in the reservoir, is that normal?

Hi,

I'd suggest it's not normal. Mine did that when i changed my pas box while the fluid was circulating, but stopped. Also, your fluid level doesn't seem to be going down while the bubbles are appearing?

Have you changed anything PAS wise recently?

Its happened since I changed engine.
Reckon air is still in there or getting in some how?
Maybe i will bleed it up again

they are self bleeding ,box has a return pipe ,usual cause is leak on pump sucking in air

Right, had to move er back so I could enter the garage and in the process of moving 2 meters, the reservoir erupted like minto's in coke (search google)
So I checked all the jubilee clips and the awkward one behind the pump and tightened them as tight as i dare also the 8mm nipple one on top of the steering box (which I assumed was a bleed) and it still bubbles like in the vid.
Took another, which I will upload later.

Suction pipe kinked where it goes from chassis to pump, pipe is quite soft and doesnt like tight bends.
