    TD4 misfire?

New wiring loom to injectors fitted within 5 mins! Very easy and even came with little plastic guide to bolt to engine top. It was complete with rubber tubing. Remove top cover of engine. Then just unclip the 4 injector plugs, 3 torq screws to undo, the 5 allen key bolts for the ecu box, then...

    Clutch virgin

Slave should be about £100 ish for a slave cyl. Your quoted price doesn't sound too bad. It is a pain of a job, I think its a long difficult job. Big chunks of gearbox, ird etc to move. I would say at about £250 parts and £300 labour then for the £300 including a guarantee (if the garage supply...

    Clutch virgin

I would replace the slave cylinder at the same time as its inside the gearbox!!! One think you should also check is the Dual Mass Flywheel as sometimes they get contaminated by oil. Sorry I cant give advice on the job I had mine done in local garage, clutch and slave £470 inc vat and parts.

    freelander td4 clutch

Normally you can test it by puting it in a high gear say 5th at 30mph and flooring the throttle. The engine revs should rise slowly with the speed increase. If the revs rise fast then the clutch is slipping. If you do need a new clutch than its worth paying the extra to have a new slave cylinder...

    TD4 misfire?

I think I have found the problem. It seems to be the actual injector plug to the drivers side cylinder. If the engine is running and I move the injector plug the misfire happens, if I release it all is well. This is the only injector plug that when moved causes a misfire. All the others I can...

    TD4 misfire?

I think that's the one under the air tube on the top right of the engine. Is that right? I will let the engine cool down a bit and then hope the rain stays off so I can have a look. Thanks.

    TD4 misfire?

Once again I look to you guys to help solve my problem. Again I have travelled to relatives down south and the Freelander is playing up in a big way. Driving on the motorway at 60+ it starts coughing and spluttering. Almost like it has a misfire. It looses a bit of power and wont go over 50. No...

    Clean/Polish Hardback/hardtop

Thanks very much to you all. I will see which one is cheap and give it a go :) Cheers.

    Clean/Polish Hardback/hardtop

My hardback roof is looking a little grey. Does anyone have any tips on how to give it a nice black shine? before anyone says, no I am not using fire to make it black.

Is it the damn headgasket ????

By the sound of it I was incorrect in suggesting it may be a weak inlet manifold. I thought I had read that the V6 inlet manifold was water-cooled and in between the 2 heads. So I must be thinking of another engine, sorry to add confusion. Hope its not the head gasket. Good Luck.

Is it the damn headgasket ????

The compression test is only a test on combustion chambers. It will not indicate a leak between oil and water systems! I dont have a petrol engine but have read a few posts about them, I seem to remember the v6 having a weak inlet manifold with ref to water leaking. To be sure you really need a...

Loud clunk from rear - sub frame??

I know this will probably sound really silly and you probably have checked. I assume there is nothing in any of the cubby holes, maybe spare wheel well (if a FL2 has one?) or the jack basically anything that could move and make a clunk? Maybe under the seats, maybe fuel tank mounting. So many...

    Synergy 2 mounting?

It fits nicely between wing and battery.

Loud clunk from rear - sub frame??

By the sound of it you have had multiple garages check it out I would say its fine. Also as you will be towing your max will be 60mph :) Surely you can go back to the garage who diagnosed the fault as a prop shaft and charged you £550 for NOT fixing the problem and ask for a refund and your old...

    Clutch problems. 03 plate TD4.

I think mine lasted about 6 months. It failed the night before I was due to drive to the airport to go on holiday! I was lucky it didn't go the next day on the way to the airport. We would have missed the flight. So make sure you have good recovery cover and start saving!

    V6 to Diesel

I dont know about a conversion but at a guess the easiest way would be a td4 conversion. But make sure if you change front gearbox/diff that the ratio matches the rear diff. I would guess you need to change fuel tank as well as some of wiring. I would guess it would be easier to get a written...

    Rear diff breakdown

The way the Diff/IRD/VCU are set up you must have the newer/bigger diameter tyres on the REAR otherwise the diff,IRD,VCU will be damaged!!!! I believe you have to change at min VCU an ddiff on failure as its the VCU that makes the diff overwork and fail. Did a garage fit your tyres? If so you...

    TD4 Oil grades

For engine Oil there is something that can help save you some money! Look at the oil containers for ACEA A3 and ACEA B3, as long as it has those its fine for the TD4 engine. Basically oil manufacturers will blend a base oil with additives so that it will pass a certain specification. The oil...

    Clutch problems. 03 plate TD4.

MickO'CTD4: I had a similar problem and replaced the master cyl. 6 months later the slave failed. So I had to have slave and I also had the clutch replaced at the same time. It cost about £400 inc labour but I think that was a very cheap garage :)
