Just having a nose about in the bonnet today... the centre thread that holds down the rockers comes free with the nut suggesting the rockers are not being held down to the required torque, I also noticed that one of the inlet manifold bolts has disappeared but with doesn't leak or at least show...

White smoke is coolant being burnt Blue smoke is oil being burnt it looks predominantly white suggesting the engines using water? it also looks a teeny bit blue however could be video quality smell your coolant, does it smell like exhaust gases? if so you HG could be on the way out

Sounds like the timings off by a tooth. Wouldn't run if the sensor was bad.

I'd say £250≥ For labour alone. Add another £100 for parts and you're in the right ball park figure.

Try bleeding your clutch at the slave cylinder, if you open the bonnet bottom left, remove the dust cover and bleed as normal, if that doesn't sort it replace the slave

My 300tdi also had a similar issue needing the glow plugs to start every morning, turned out that the valve clearances needed adjusting

They certainly look like rivets; that being the case whack the head off the rivet with a sharp flat blade/chisel and jobs a good'un!

Coolant reservoir cap? How do you know its exhaust gasses? Does the coolant smell fumey?
