Only rear wheels locked and drive :(

If the prop was missing or a cb joint or the diff were foo-barred then it wouldn't work in high or low. A thought: are you sure you have it in high? There's a neutral position and it can be sticky getting it past there if its not used often. Can be easier to engage if the engine is running...

Only rear wheels locked and drive :(

The linkages are so sloppy that the light can be off when it's engaged and vice versa! Could also be cv joint or diff as well but start with simple stuff

Only rear wheels locked and drive :(

Use lots of wd40 on the linkages I the top of the transfer box. You can get to them under the truck - the diff lock and hi/Lo selectors go through multiple linkages and seize where they go into the top of the box. After that drive it and keep playing with your levers and they'll eventually...

    Classic boot floor

Unless you want a 'perfect' replacement then a plate over the boot floor and pop riveted in is fine. Alloy or steel, your choice! Cut back any loose rust, treat what's left and smother with Schutz. Use seam sealer or low modulus mastic when you rivet the plate on, job done! Watch for sitcom...

    Classic boot floor

Seat belt mounts are welded to the chassis below the floor, so they shouldn't fail it for those (unless they're rotten of course!)

    To buy or not?

Well at least you have an idea of what to look for! I'll be in the Oxford area for a while in a couple if weeks so of I'm around and you want me to cast a pair of eyes over another one, be glad to help out.

    To buy or not?

Another thought, how good are you st home mechanics? Head gasket is easy on these with basic tools plus torque wrenches. Same for the timing belt and almost anything except the gearbox (apart from the input gear which just pulls off). You shouldn't have to do much at that mileage but just...

    To buy or not?

At that mileage a 300tdi is barely run in. As already said, rust would be the major headache but all is treatable/repairable. If the chassis, inner wings are sound and the sills are ok near the body mounting points then that's a good start. The boot floor is not structural and there are...

    300TDi Squeeling belt 'Penny Trick'

Daft question, but is the tensioner on the right way round? If you haven't done one before, the printed instructions I had with a dayco kit a few years back weren't clear. I put the new one on the same way the old one came off-1000 miles later I was replacing pushrods and the timing belt kit...

2005 1.8 k series - coil pack head. Is there a blanking plate missing?

OMG! Not the cover thief! Lol, I'd better find one then and use done thread lock on the bolts :) Thanks, I think it parted company recently otherwise I'd have noticed. :)

2005 1.8 k series - coil pack head. Is there a blanking plate missing?

Hi All, if you frequent 4xforum.net you might recognise the nickname :) Had my head under the bonnet this morning to detect the source of the smell of hot coolant (I think it;'s the leaky inlet manifold gasket, must change that ASAP). Whilst under there I noticed at the RH side of the...
