Garage recommendation’s in or close to Glasgow

Yes Mackies will keep you right for the autobox. The main dealer in Glasgow sub contracts all the broken gearboxes to them. Strathearn Engineering ( less than an hour away ) will look after the rest.

    Pictures of your classics!

Here is mine at the recent L405 launch. Looks quite nice there as the dealer had spent a day valeting her. Normally she looks a bit tired and I think its the Borg warner box that is starting to whine a fair bit. There's always something eh

    Loss Of Power Centre Console

No bill as yet. I have written to LR to complain but not sure what will come of it. Thanks for the advice - I will Google a specialist or if anyone can recommend one around Glasgow or even Scotland

    Loss Of Power Centre Console

I just cant believe how this problem has become a really bad situation. After conceding that this wasnt something I was going to be able to fix DIY nor even a job for the local garage, I decided to bite the bullit and give it to a well known main LR dealer in Glasgow to diagnose and repair...

    Viscous Coupling?

I have just read this whole thread and can see where the confusion has begun right at the beginning. This guy got a great description of how a VCU works but then a slip up up let him believe that he had one.

The much Lamented L322 ZF Gearboxes....

Yes it wasnt the cheapest at £3k but it was important to us getting a 100,000 mile/ 3 year warranty from a reputable place. That included a new TC and oil cooler and vat. I really was just mentioning it as the symptoms talked about were exactly as described by them for this ZF G/B on its path...

The much Lamented L322 ZF Gearboxes....

For what its worth, when our 02 L322 started to give trouble at around 120,000 miles we contacted Mackie in Glasgow as they have a good reputation and are used by the dealer. I only had to tell the service manager what vehicle it was and he described the symptoms to me ( namely juddering when...

    Loss Of Power Centre Console

Intermittently and getting worse is the sudden loss at the start or during a journey of all functions in the centre console ie: HEVAC, heated seats, parking sensors, everything in this panel bar the air susp. No warning lights. For no apparent reason, it will all start working again, either on...

    Seat Switch Circuit Diagram

At last received back repaired ECU and spent time yesterday refitting. Still a PITA to get access from under the seat base diaphram but at least as soon as its plugged in I could move the seat fully forward or back to gain better access for final positioning of the ecu and the 5 connectors...

    Best classic diesel conversion

This is just my thoughts on the subject of removing V8,s for diesel engines but it just seems to me that unless the engine is knackered or its a daily driver and doing many miles, it may not be as clear cut idea. I mean lets say a decent all round figure is 17mpg on the V8 and 30mpg on the Tdi...

    rrc rear wiper

I had problems with mine. Motor all checked out ok so had a look under the dash, whipped out the delay timer relay (stamped PRC7404 but now PRC9957) after testing it there was 12v in but not out, plugged it back in and all works fine. I have ordered another relay as its either a poor connection...

    Light upgrade problem

Ive just found out: A) The top half of the lower circle is not another tail light, its the fog light. B) The standard light unit DOES also use LED's for brake light ( not just the high level one ) so the dealer was talking tosh.

    Light upgrade problem

Thats fine. I think the resistor is there to stop any problems and the dealer was just covering his back saying put get some original lights back on. PowerfulUK have a good diagram showing the half dozen different rear lights used on the L322. BTW the dogs are only in the car for posing...

    Light upgrade problem

The bottom circle is split horizontally having a tail light bulb ( Diadem ) in each half. The top circle has a bulb for the indicator but looks like LED,s for the brake light and a resistor is wired into this.

    Light upgrade problem

They were bullet connectors but we had water ingress in the boot due to a faulty tailgate seal which didnt help

    Any good?

Ive got both and they are similar in ride and comfort. I suppose an old standard RRC is always going to be more kind of upmarket looking but against it is its slightly more complex relatively speaking. Neither look good if tatty or rusty, like you say only the Defender looks good. IMO the...

    Light upgrade problem

Hi, thats great news. dealer over reacting then. They were fine for a year anyhow, it appears the PO had done a poor job of insulating the connections and dampness was causing the issues. I am near Glasgow and it hasn't stopped raining for a few months now.

    Light upgrade problem

We have owned our 2002 L322 for over a year and bought it with this light upgrade which I think is called either a 2006 facelift or a 2009 S/C. We had a problem with the brake light on constantly along with HDC and Air Susp inactive recently and ended up going to the dealer who diagnosed poor...
