All sorted a friend has put old shaft into new casing and all seems well sod knows how he done it but now time to book mot. A happy man :)

Well im pi##ed off now . Bought new relay fitted itltoday tried driving it up and down my drive slowly and everything seemed ok then heard a loud noise and lost steering. Top of relay moves but bottom dont. Im guessing the shaft has snapped. I thought this happened to the cheap makes of relay...

Got the relay out at last now its full steam ahead with getting it on the rd.

All bolts are out looks as though the cross member has been welded in past so thats why im thinking ts been welded by accident. May have to try hacksaw

:confused::confused:I think its been welded by accident . Ive soaked it in all sorts and have jackedit up for days. Needs to come out coz it completely shot

Soaked it in everything and had it jacked up also whacked it till the cows came home .still know joy

Sold my range rover and bought a series3 but need help to remove steering relay as it wont budge. Anyone near launceston cornwall help would be gratefull :D

sold the range rover for now. But will get another one some day many thanks to all with help with problem solving .

Right changed oil / filter / plugs also thermostat and coolant started it up and sounds better already and not smoking as much so fingers crossed!

No mot on it so will have to just run it on driveway take it 15w40 ok to use

96 v8 4.6 137709 oil in it is mineral 15w40 I've never changed oil or plugs etc due to not using it much when I got it then sorting all other probs out that came along. The plugs were in very loose

Had a bit of a play and took all spark plugs out recently all were very black and 1 was very wet with oily substance on it. Is this stem seals or possibly more than just that ?

I had same issues in the end fitted 2 new door lock actuators and problem solved !

Will have look next time I'm down there but have done quite a lot to mine new coil pack / fuel pump / door lock actuators etc etc. May just have go at stem seals easy once head off apparently.
