    Just fitted a Rev Counter

My vote goes to the threaded terminal at 12 o'clock in the picture. Pretty sure I used a ring connector when I fitted mine, rather than a spade connector This might help - it's not the same alternator, but the pics at the bottom might help? Dunk

    Just fitted a Rev Counter

Wiring it in is the easy bit - just a feed from the 'W' terminal on the alternator, and an earth. Fitted one to my 2.5N/A a few months ago. The tricky bit is calibrating it to your engine, if you want it to read accurately. If you can work out all the gear ratios from engine -> wheels, you can...

    Bare ally!

Here you go...... ok it's a Series, not a Defender, but you get the idea: PS - It's not mine, and I don't know how/why it was done!! ;) Dunk

    Peterborough lr show Saturday

I'll be there saturday morning in my ex-MOD D90...... it'd be rude NOT to go as it's on my doorstep :) Dunk

    Ex RAF 300TDI

Interesting..... the only MOD 300Tdi is the Wolf, but they're much higher priced than the older naturally-aspirated diesels (thing they start about the £6k mark). Look for a spare wheel mounted on the passenger's side rear body panel and a protruding vent on the side of the front wing - the...

Is it possible to test a PAS box......

.......without fitting it???? I got an outwardly tatty-looking 4-bolt PAS box for free when a mate bought an old RR axle, but didn't need the box. Is there any way to test if it's use-able WITHOUT having to go to the trouble of fitting it (to my non-PAS D90) and plumbing it in? Cheers Dunk

i was thinking of buying ed mod...

Does it make a difference how you explain it to the insurers? If/when I eventually finish re-building my spare 300tdi engine, I'm hoping to drop it into my ex-MOD D90 N/A....... If you were to explain to the insurers that you've replaced a 2.5l Land Rover Diesel engine with a 'slightly newer'...

Looking for some Iraqi Snatch footage

Yep - IIRC, there were a set of stone steps in front of the doors, and they drove the LR straight up the steps and through the front door - KNOCK KNOCK, ANYBODY HOME???? :D

Looking for some Iraqi Snatch footage

That's the one!...... not sure if it was the Para's - while searching for the footage I found mention on the arrse forum suggesting it might've been RM

    Odd question - gear knobs

No, I put the std part number FRC8722 in the search box and it came up with the knob for about £3 However, that's with the rubber insert still, not a thread (I don't think there is a standard part which is threaded). I found the rubber insert was too stiff  to get the thread started...

    Dilemma!...2.5n/a or TD5

+1..... I recently bought a very straight and tidy ex-MOD D90 n/a, with a view to transplanting the spare 300tdi engine that I'm currently rebuilding. A few other points to bear in mind if you're thinking about the earleir model: No power-steering - in a 90 it's not too bad apart from...

    Ashtray What's in yours?

There's a spent 5.56mm cartridge in mine - it was there when I picked it up from the MOD disposals :violent:

Looking for some Iraqi Snatch footage

All, I distinctly recall seeing a news clip during the gulf war, of some brit troops ramming a snatch Land Rover through the front gates/doors of (I think) one of Ghadaffi's palaces. I was describing the scene to a mate at the weekend, and I've trawled youtube for it, but had no luck - any...

    If I have 235/85 tyres, can I have a 7.50 spare??

Thanks chaps - that'll save me an extra ~£120 ;)

    If I have 235/85 tyres, can I have a 7.50 spare??

Evening all..... I'm thinking about changing the 7.50x16 Michelin XLZ's on my ex-MOD D90 for some 235/85x16's with an AT pattern that'll be a bit better behaved on tarmac. The question is, do I need to buy 5 new tyres or can I get away with 4, and use the existing 7.50x16 on the bonnet as a...

    Urgent help needed please!

Does the engine turn over at all?? If not check the engine earths - I had a nightmare with my 200tdi refusing to start...... connecting a jump-lead direct from the engine to the -ve battery terminal identified the problem straight away Dunk

    EX MOD 1985 n/a 2.5 110 - Advice please

Yeah..... just on the driver's side....... HOWEVER, I don't think the passenger's wing-top is original - the paint is a different shade, and looks brush-painted, while the other panels still have the original spray-finish. Dunk

    EX MOD 1985 n/a 2.5 110 - Advice please

Ahhh gotcha - cheers matey....... I'm gonna keep mine too and maybe stick a snow-guard on the other wing-top for 'balance' :) Dunk
