    Heavy Duty Sills

+1. Their stuff is very well made but beware the time between ordering and receipt can be a bit long.

    Galvanised original and repaired chassis

OK, so no, but it was worth a ponder. ;-)

    Galvanised original and repaired chassis

Interesting. Do you think that attaching a block of zinc to a standard chassis (available from boat chandlers) would slow down corrosion?

    Tow bar - completley perplexed.

You could be right, I really don't know. The owner prior to the previous one replaced the chassis so I have no knowledge of its origins. I had thought it was a Marsland. I suspect it may be as you say but if it is a TD5 cross member grafted onto a 300 TDi chassis it has been done professionally...

    Tow bar problems continued

Hi Harry well it arrived this morning and..............................................it doesn't fit. See current 'tow bar - completely perplexed' thread. looks like I may just have to modify it.

Defender needs new chasis - advice

Get the Richards. I have a Marsland and am having a bugger of a time sourcing the correct tow bar - see the current 'tow bar - completely perplexed' thread ;-)

    Tow bar - completley perplexed.

I'm beginning to think it is bespoke.............................and that worries me.

    Tow bar - completley perplexed.

I may be forced to but would like to find out first what I have and why there appears not to be an off the shelf solution. I assume,:), that the tie down holes in the chassis legs are positioned the same distance forward of the rear of the rear cross member on both TD5 90 and 110. Am I right...

    Tow bar - completley perplexed.

What should have been an easy job has become something of a nightmare. I had ordered a Dixon Bate tow bar for my 1995 300TDi 90 only to find it didn't fit. Thankfully the eBay seller gave a full refund. Some on the forum here identified that the galvanised replacement chassis had a TD5 rear...

    Tow bar problems continued

Well done that man! I had looked over the Marsland site but missed that bit of info'. I had contacted marsland but they actually denied using TD5 crossmembers - strange. Ordered up a Witters tow bar for a TD5 110 including electrics for £89. Fingers crossed.

    Tow bar problems continued

Hmmmmmmmmmmm, looks like I am going to have to take my tape measure to the supermarket car park and stalk a TD5 110.

    painted defender this week end

How did you take the dent out after painting? And why not before? Just wondering.

    Tow bar problems continued

I am back in the UK and want to carry on the the quest of installing a tow bar on my 90. From the previous thread I started it appears that my 1995 300 TDi has been fitted with a TD5 galvanised replacement chassis. No shock then that the Dickson Bate one I ordered for a 300 TDi didn't fit (It...

    Steering guard from Paddock

Actually, I just noticed mine is a bit different - ask them about PM609TE which has integral towing eyes and I got it for £56 delivered. Nice heavy duty bit of kit.

    Steering guard from Paddock

I got one of these about 2 months ago and it was an easy fit, well made, and good value. Oh and about 2-3 days arrival from ordering.

    rusted nut!

M12 X 200 mm 8.8 is what you need to fit the sliders. Good luck, oh, and plenty of copper grease.

    water going somewhere

Please excuse the rant here, but I have counted to 10 and it didn't work. Someone in a crisis comes on here as a complete newbie and asks for advice. So far so good. They are asked to elucidate the problems they are experiencing and despite a few coaxings fail to do so. They then bugger off into...

    rusted nut!

Just done this. Wd40 every day for a week. Got a strong son and a power bar plus a hex impact socket (29mm?). 2 bottles of a good bordeaux. Took all of 30 seconds a side. Richmond treesliders are superbly made IMHO - no connection. Slow in coming though, but worth the wait.

    Two cretinous questions

Basically, if you are a hundred percent about the induction side sealing and of course the highest designed air inlet isn't underwater then start it as soon as possible. Just makes it easier.

Stuck in port in Turkey need urgent advise

Oh, OK, I don't have knowledge of that motor and it may be that it is sensitive. generally, I wouldn't have thought a problem, at least short term.
