If the inner cv joint is damaged, it gets really hot when running. So the grease melts down, leaks through the boot edge and sprays all over, even if the boot is intact. This happened to me once.

Mine had such a problem. Vibration only under acceleration. The cause was a worn inner CV joint. I had to change the drive shaft (RH).

I've had a similar problem and it was caused by worn inner cv joint. Had to replace the whole driveshaft.
