Thanks my problem was that the car battery was US as it had a broken cell, so OK with replacement - but the drivers door will not lock with fob and I realise hasn't for some time. I have to do that internally from passenger side and then lock the rest of doors with fob I will get it looked at...

Exactly same problem - had the Disco 2 years from new no problems until today and both key fobs dead and no amount of 3 or 4 presses of the buttons as close to the sensor as poss has made any difference. The handbook is in the car of course so can't remeber how you get the batteries out but...
