Coolant exploded all over engine bay!!

I'm watching this thread as I have the same symptoms on my 2002 TD5 facelift; it blew a top hose on the M6 18 months ago and the head was found to be perfect. I replaced the hose, head gasket and rad cap and it has gone perfectly until last month when it overheated despite full water and oil...

Head gasket, or what else is it???

Bad news as in???? I've had the head pressure tested twice now, and it's not damaged. What else do you suspect?

Head gasket, or what else is it???

Funny you should mention that... those nice chaps at BLRC were 100% certain it was a cracked head, and carried out the test on the 'exhaust gases in the coolant' bit in front of me to prove it. Their estimate was £2300. I'll bleed the system at the weekend... the burning smell at idle may just...

Head gasket, or what else is it???

My Td5 facelift blew a top coolant hose 18 months ago due to pressure in the cooling system; it cost me £700 to have the head gasket replaced and a new radiator fitted. The head itself was fine, pressure tested and certified by a reputable company. Two months ago it overheated while the other...

Engine Resonance / Vibration / Rough Spot

MAF sensor failure? Mine takes off like a rocket over 2000 rpm, below that it's sluggish, and I've been told to replace the MAF sensor.

    oat antifreeze

THAT I am hoping is the case as my local mechanic replaced my head gasket yesterday and has refilled with blue antifreeze. I've no idea how much red was left in the system; he may have flushed it all out but I was concerned they may gunge things up inside the pipes.

    Handbrake Warning Light

There's a bar across the top of the handbrake lever that activates a switch; on mine the bar had snapped so nothing was hitting the switch even when the brake was taken off. When I rewelded the bar I found the switch was badly worn on one side so it wasn't even making contact. A new switch was...

    D2 TD5 coolant frustration...

It may be the head gasket. I had the same problem last November; a very slightly weeping gasket was blowing the coolant out with no other visible traces. The expansion tank was always empty. It cost me £700 to have the gasket replaced and the head pressure tested, but the problem went away...
