TD5 Disco 2 Handbrake cable replacement

Hi Do I need any special tools to complete the replacement of the cable. I have got as far as removing propshaft but the screw securing the drum is so big I need to borrow a fatter screwdriver. But reading rave, I am wondering if for all the later stages, I need anything other than pliers to...

    Aftersales - cruise control kit

I didn't have the radio code when I did mine so didn't want even to disconnect the negative on the battery... an expert at the UK crash testing centre assured me it was extremely difficult to activate an airbag accidentally by handling it... I still covered it with a pillow though whilst I...

    TOTAL MYSTERY Coolant Loss!!!!

Thanks, I will have look underneath, but my leak slows to virtually nothing once it gets down to near the bottom of the expansion tank, so i have always been looking for a leak higher in the system than the water pump - when the WP hose outlet started leaking recently, then the fluid level kept...

    Handbrake cable replacement - HOW?

Thanks for that...no I didn't know it compresses - it didn't say in RAVE and I only had a quick peak underneath (hate lying in the snow:)) and at first glance it didn't look like it was two pieces so assumed it was basically rigid...cheers for the advice; should be easy now

    TOTAL MYSTERY Coolant Loss!!!!

Yes Dave, you remember correctly, it is that problem. Having sorted a small leak from the hose out of the water pump, which was making the level continue to drop, I am back to what I had before; coolant drops from full to bottom of tank over, say, a week of short runs, then seems to stay...

    TOTAL MYSTERY Coolant Loss!!!!

Well, actaully I haven't given up...I am determined to cracj this so........ Can anyone suggest if its possible to have a coolant leak in the head WITHOUT any of the usual signs of this. i.e. the HC/CO2 test on the coolant is fine, there is no excessive pressure in the coolant system...

    Handbrake cable replacement - HOW?

I have RAVE and can see what's needed, but HOW DO YOU REMOVE THE REAR PROPSHAFT? It says undo the 8 nuts AND BOLTS but a quick look at mine suggests they are nuts on studs? I can see that without removing the studs, the propshaft won't drop. DO I NEED A TOOL TO REMOVE THE STUDS?

    Discover 2 CD Multichanger

I agree the cassette adaptors are rubbish and I still use my multi changer but only cos the garage supplied a new cassette as a favour. i bought a transmitter that fitted into the cigar lighter AND has a usb connection for the ipod...it was one of the gadgets from japans electronic trade show a...

Help, heater hot when moving but cold when in traffic?

Sorry - english being my first language tends to make my punctuation sloppy:)- I missed out the semi-colon and exclamation.... "...stupid place to put something; so awkward to change!

    centering my steering wheel?

OK!!! Keep our hair on......you were the one that mentioned the bloody airbag in the first place........ "Unless you got an air bag in there You might find you can take the steering wheel off turn it a bit and put it back on straight." Can't hang around here...gotta go and retrieve the box of...

    Discover 2 CD Multichanger

Why bother with a multichanger...when the cassette in mine broke I now tune my ipod into the radio and that gives me a 1000 disc multi-changer...much better and amazing sound quality.

    centering my steering wheel?

Nobody seems to have mentioned the airbag when removing the steering wheel? Though you can get away without the rigmarole of disarming it you do have to take care with it and I rested mine on a cushion whilst I was working on it to make sure it didn't drop and disconnect the wires...they aren't...

    TOTAL MYSTERY Coolant Loss!!!!

Maybe you have a different header tank to mine...but the actual level mark isn't that crucial, wherever you fill it too it ought to stay there. If I fill mine to the line cold, it drops about 2-3cm when hot then comes back up when cold (except of course mine is operating like that right at the...

I'd be a bit suspicious as to how up to date the quoted average is, as these measurements went metric years ago:nopics:
