Thanks David, I had a quick look at the service history of one I test drove yesterday, the salesman wasn't all that keen and just flicked through the wee book reading out the mileage at which it had been serviced. Probably won't be getting that one anyway but handy practise for the real thing!

Ok, thanks for the thoughts, we tested two today to see what they're like as I've never driven a TD4 before. First we drove a Maasi Mara that had just come in, and to be honest a bit out of our price range at £6995 (think its a 53 plate) thought it was very smart and tidy, the clutch felt so...

Oh right, well thats a good sign, I love driving 'properly' but was anxious that if I did so in the FL it might be too much for the clutch! Guess even the best service history won't mean the previous owner could drive....!

I suspect I know the answer - it depends on how its driven etc etc :doh: BUT... I was wondering, say you've got a smart well looked after TD4 thats only been used as a school taxi in town, is there a sort of average mileage that the clutch lasts for? I'm just thinking about the two I saw...

I hardy ever leave my cars with the handbrake on, even over night I find they can easily stick on.

I was just wondering, if I were to use the FL (if I get one) for the winter months, say up til March or April, then only use it a bit in the summer for towing, then ues it again come Oct / Nov, will it rapidly deteriorate with such little use? Thanks! :D
