    NS inner wing gap

Ahh right....so it is meant to be there then. Think I'm tempted to make a little bolt on cover panel out of ally though to keep the muck out. Already packed the mud shields off the foot-well thanks. Thought it seemed a good idea to do that. I also sealed up all the footwell seams with...

    NS inner wing gap

Yes, so on mine it is a standard wing but no hole for the exhaust (not required for the inboard exhaust), but looking at your photo you can see the chassis upright immediately behind the exhaust and the wing end bolts to the bottom of this. The standard mud shield that bolts to the foot-well...

    NS inner wing gap

Still sussing out what is missing from the box of bits i'm rebuilding. Should there be a gap at the back of my inner wing between the wing and the mud shield on Near Side? Looks like there should be a make-up piece similar to the steering box cover on the Off Side, but I haven't got one and...

    Ingnition barrel repair

Just wondered is it possible to refurbish/repair the ignition barrel/steering lock. The starter motor solenoid feed was showing no power on the switch terminal when I first came to try it, but after a lot of messing it sudeny started working. Worried it might fail again, so would like to...

    Servo and reservoir

Ok now I've got my engine running, I'm trying to bottom out what's left to get my landy on the road. I have the brakes all bled up and they seem firm, but need to assemble the vacuum system. I've been struggling to find pictures of how it all goes together. I've got a reservoir tank, and...

    Fuel bleeding problems 2.25 D

Pipes went on last night. Waited for fuel to seep from the injector threads and nipped them up. Cranked it for about 10 second or so a couple of times and then it spluttered into life. Job's a gud 'n'!

    Fuel bleeding problems 2.25 D

I had a spare pump that looked the grotiest out of the two. Took the fitted pump of last night and drove it with the spline by hand, nothing from the injector ports. Did the same with the spare (also been stood for years) and bubles of diesel where coming out of the ports. Hence it...

    Fuel bleeding problems 2.25 D

How's that remedied then, simple pull it in bits and clean, or specialist rebuild?

    Fuel bleeding problems 2.25 D

As I said, I tried with the injector unions slackened from the start. There are no injector pipes on at all now and there's still no sign of fuel coming out on manual pump or cranking. But I have fuel at the bleed points on the filter and on distributor pump.

    Fuel bleeding problems 2.25 D

I'm hopefully just about getting my 2.25 Diesel series 3 completed after a rebuild starting from a million boxes of bits. I have a 5 bearing 2.25 which I've completely rebuilt as new, but just chucked the old pump/distributor on as was. I bled fuel through to the two distributor bleed points...

    Gearbox adjustment?

Found that 2nd gear grates a bit if you change up/down too quick. You have to hesitate slightly as you push it back to avoid this. Just wear and tear on a 118k box or is there anything I can do bar some clean oil?

    TD5 fluctuating tickover

Is fluctuating tickover normal after startup on TD5. it's as though the ecu is continually adjusting the choke to sus out where best to set it. Engine runs fine when you drive off. I'm sure I've heard defenders running like this so am I right not to be concerned over it, or is something...

    New 2.2 V 2.4 dci any updates?

Think I'm looking to replace my 90 with a 110 but not sure about this change from from 2.4 to 2.2 engine? I had no bother with my 2.4, it pulled like a train with plenty pulling power. I've seen a few comments on the new engines, but has anybody actually got one yet after having a 2.4 Ie...
