    300TDI Clutch problem...

Hmmm, I think I agree with you Dave. I used a new Britpart head recently, which was ok, but for the sake of the extra £20, a Borg and Beck is probably worth the extra, it's a job I won't be planning on doing twice with any luck! But other than a broken fork, there's nothing wrong with the clutch...

    300TDI Clutch problem...

Thanks GreenHornet, but what a pain, would've been nice if I just bleed it out and was back on the road! If I'm replacing the arm, I'm considering changing the entire clutch while I'm at it. Island 4x4 do a kit including the HD arm and a push rod clip but no pushrod, unless I've misread it...

    300TDI Clutch problem...

Thanks John, I'll pull off the slave cylinder to be sure, but it does sound as if that's whats happended. Luckily a cheap fix and I'll order the pushrod and clips along with the arm. Not too afraid of getting my hands dirty, I've already done the head, but I've never done a clutch / gearbox on...

    300TDI Clutch problem...

Bugger! If the release arm has gone it'll be gearbox off to replace it, even if the part is cheap it's a helluva job to do on the side of the road :(

    300TDI Clutch problem...

Hi folks, I searched the archive but didn't find anything 100% relevant. Yesterday the clutch pedal went on the Disco, straight to the floor and stayed there etc. It could be pulled back up but there was no pressure in the system. There was fluid in the reservoir, if a bit low and black...

300tdi Coolant Leaking Out Of Cap

It's worth considering replacing the hosing and one way valve that goes between the expansion tank and head, only £20 or so and I'm almost convinced that this little b*****d not letting water back into the head was a least partly to blame for our recent head failure :(

    mot test

My 300tdi just went through only needing 2 wiper blades :) Advises on non structural welding so hoping to have the underside grit blasted and sealed so as to address all the welding in one go and be good for a couple of years. Sounds like we both got off pretty lightly ;)

300tdi knocking & now wont fire

I had a similar if not quite so extreme issue when she'd lost a valve cap on the rocker assembly after a head job, this wil become apparent after you slackened and checked your rockers clearances, good luck ;)

    Sluggish disco.........not any more!

Excellent post Jon, my type of mod, cheap and effective by the sounds of it, my Disco suffers in the same way and I'll give this a go ASAP ;)

    Retro fit roof rails...

Hey folks, I want a roof rack for my 300tdi, something suitable for carrying bikes or other stuff. I've been offered the factory fit rails with cross bars from my local specialist breaker, and have searched the archive including reading a post by Faero in 2008 who retro fitted these. I think...

    Key keeps turning in lock...

I had a similar problem with a plastic collar thingy that fit's around the lock, had to be replaced but managed to get one from my local breaker. Speaking of which I must get the fob working, would be more convenient and less likely to break it again ;)

    The Money Pit

Agree with ice 100%, I'm also a fairly recent convert and have plenty of problems with my 300tdi but am still into the old girl. If you don't do your own work I think you're onto a loser with a Disco IMHO. On the upside the parts are cheap as chips, easy to work on and there's no end of advice...

    EGR blanking kit question...

Can't comment on the de-cat, but blanking the EGR is straightforward, and yes you should get the kit with the hose, much neater ;)

    300 tdi temp drop

I had a similarly irrelevant response from storm when I 1st posted, I ignored it ;) Thermostats are cheap and easy to replace, so worth a go. Also I understand covering a section of the rad is worth a try in the winter (sure there are posts about this in search). I have a new head going on at...

    Expansion Tank one way valve...

Excellent, hopefully that's what I'll be picking up on Friday then, and Island 4x4 have already dispatched the other bits so I look all set for the weekend. The Met Office is forecasting 8deg on Saturday, so all systems go ;)

    Expansion Tank one way valve...

Thanks for that discool, although can't find an online supplier so my local 4x4 specialist is ordering one in. They say 'in the region of £20' which sounds expensive, but it would be false economy to spend the other £325 without this I think. Looking forward to having her back on the road, so...

    Expansion Tank one way valve...

Thanks for that, although I wasn't talking about the pressure cap, but the in line plastic valve on the pipes below the expansion tank. Not sure what it's called, or a part number. Also, I think the new water pump come with a gasket, unless the P gasket is a seperate thing? ;)

    Expansion Tank one way valve...

Hi folks, Ordering a new 300tdi head from Island 4x4, with Erling gasket and am changing water pump and thermostat for good measure. Is it possible to clean out the one way valve that comes off the expansion tank or is it best to replace? If replacing, where can I get one / identify it...

    Downloadable manual

I'd suggest that's the place to look, but I have a 300tdi myself so can't help much further, good luck ;)
