Fault caused by jump starting another car?

Update. ECU damaged. Approx £800 to fix! There should be a warning on the battery cover to never use jump leads.

Fault caused by jump starting another car?

Connected on the battery posts. The mechanic did say that the large number of faults indicated were not valid but obviously there is something that is. I thought it a bit odd that he thought it could be the turbo as the car has been running perfectly up until the jump start.I'm still convinced...

Fault caused by jump starting another car?

Thanks for your input lads. As the car runs and everything seems to work apart from the reduced performance, I'm hoping that is not too serious but I'm never that lucky! How do I do a hard reset?

Fault caused by jump starting another car?

Hello all, I previously had a FL1 and bought a FL2 four years ago which has been problem free until the other day. 2010, FL2, 2.2 Diesel, manual, 27K Miles. Gave a friend a jump start on his ford focus as his battery was flat. Had the freelander running before connecting the jump leads to the...

Sorry lads. Another TD4 clutch change

Yes, it is now becoming clearer. I can see the head of the last bolt on the bell housing behind the IRD, so, it has to come off. Oh well, at least it's stopped raining. Cheers BD

Sorry lads. Another TD4 clutch change

Hello all, Well, it's ****ing down with rain and I'm part way through changing out the clutch on my 2005 TD4 Freelander. I have changed clutches before, not on landrovers though. I have read previous posts on this subject and I am now left a bit confused. I also have a copy of the Rave manual...

    EGR and inlet manifold

Thanks chaser, 8 ports for 8 valves makes sense. I just did not expect to find the inlet side of an engine so grotty and the round ports look more like a sooty exhaust. I'll hoover them out. I really should buy a workshop manual as I've never worked on a diesel engined car before. Only petrol in...

    EGR and inlet manifold

Hello all, I decided to check the intercooler hoses for leaks on my 05 Freelander. I found black oil in the hoses and checked the EGR which was found to be gummed up with a tar like substance. I removed the inlet manifold and was horrified to see how badly the ports on both the head and manifold...

    Sorted. Both lamps were blown.

    No headlamps

Hello all, Both headlamps will not work on dip. Side lights and full beam ok. Suspect possibly a relay fault ? Fuses 19 and 20 checked ok. Where will I find the relay for the headlamps or any other ideas. Can't imagine both lamp filaments blowing at the same time but will check. 05 Freelander...

TD4 lack of power similar to previous post

Thanks very much friend, you were spot on. Found a split in the small 3 inch long hose after the air probe along the front of the engine. Landrover dealership will only sell a complete unit at £36 + VAT ! Bought a 3 inch length of hose from local performance garage and jod done. Cheers BD

TD4 lack of power similar to previous post

Hello all, Sounds like this happened to my 2005 TD4 today also on the M6 with 100 miles still to travel. Piles of black smoke at around 70mph but would dissapear once the speed was up to 80 but the engine did lack any zip and lost power on gradients. There also was the sound of escaping air from...
