    200tdi tuning

I've got the pump and turbo turned up on my 200tdi and it did make an improvement but want more now :D Whats the next step? Is there an up rated turbo/injector route that people go down? Or are these engines not that strong? I'm blaming the yanks! Have you seen what they do to them Cummins...

What to do with my series 3 88"

Half shafts and gear box will only break if you jolt the running gear some how. Like trying to wheel spin on tarmac :) Mines a 200tdi with Range Rover diffs. It is brilliant. So much more useable on the road than before :D DO IT!

    RR diffs in a Series

Well I used to tackle even the steepest hills with my 265/75/16 tyres in 2nd gear in low ratio. So I can't see these higher ratio diffs making things too difficult. And right now the Landy is acting as a very capable van :-)

    RR diffs in a Series

Fitted a range rover diff to my landy earlier, yes just the rear one for now, disconectted the front prop too as its got a habit of popping in to 4wd and I didn't have the time to do the front diff. What a difference! The gears don't run out after 40mph now :p It can sit on the motorway...

Going to be after a Series gear box soon

I've got a Series 3 with a 200tdi engine. The gear box is starting to be troublesome. Stiff in 1st, 2nd and reverse. Jumps out of 3rd on over run, noisey in 4th. Time to find a replacement! Anybody got a Series gear box I can atleast rebuild so I can just simply swap it out with my old...

Want to do an expedition, no idea where!

:p I went to the Ring in 2008 in my Triumph Dolomite Sprint and done 5 laps, only one on my own where I was going hell for leather and managed a 10.26 then went again in 2009 in my 220hp Saab 9000 and that was total ****e, i had 4 wet laps with really slow times as its so slippery, was...

Want to do an expedition, no idea where!

Ok it's decided! Series 3, Morrocco, May 2011 :) Plan to take between 2-3 weeks and all we know right now is we want to go via, Paris, some French/Spanish coastal roads, Madrid, Gibraltar, Morrocco and on the way home the Nurburgring. The vehicle will be a 1980 Series 3 with a 200tdi...

Want to do an expedition, no idea where!

Hey Rusty Rhinos I've been reading your threads, website and checked out the 3 videos you made. Really useful information there, was great to see a more or less standard Series can make it. With chunkier tyres, a winch, slight suspension lift and a 200tdi fitted to my Series it made me feel a...

Want to do an expedition, no idea where!

A mate and myself want to do an expedition in my Series 3 land rover this year. We're not to sure on where at the moment. Been reading up on Morroco but wouldn't mind something out Russia way or even further north! Did consider staying in this country and just touring up through Scotland...

    Guesstimated MPG figures

I will but I need to know what to expect mpg wise

    Guesstimated MPG figures

My speedo doesnt work so I've never been able to workout what my landys like on fuel. All I know is when it was a petrol 2.25 it would need topping up EVERY time I went out in it! Now its a 200tdi the fuel lasts forever! I now need to have a rough-ish figure to work out when I can do my...

    Frozen Feet - extra heater?

I pulled the blower motor and heater matrix out of my S3 so I could fit my 200tdi engine. Tomorrow I plan to make my own heater matrix out of copper piping, no fan just a heater matrix. I shall report back with either nothing to report.... or pictures and a story on how awesome it is :)

    series two of road

All you need is big chunky tyres :) I also have 265 75 16 Insa Special Tracks and they are a million times better than the old 7.50 SATs I had on there. I've also got 1 tonne lift shackles so the tyres don't foul the arches when flexxing and a 200tdi which really gives it some punch :)

    Series Winch Bumpers

Yerp why buy when you can build and if you can't build you probably won't own a Series for very long :p I got some 10mm thick steel plate and welded it between the chassis rails for the rear 2 bolts of the winch and mounted the front 2 through the original front bumper.

    Front axle U bolts

Thats what I done today, bought both :) Pretty sure its the flat one that I've broken as its the closest to the diff where the axles a little squarer

    Front axle U bolts

When under my S3 today changing the front diff I noticed I've got a broken U bolt. It's the inner one on the drivers side. Had a look on Paddocks and it seems that theres 2 different types. Curved and Flat ones. Apparantly 3 of the U bolts for the front axle are curved and one is flat...
