    What colour....

Hello, we have just acquired a 90 that used to belong to the Peak District NP. It was originally standard blue but was sprayed (by the PDNP?) a silver colour with a hint of bronze. Anyone any idea what this colour is called for paint buying purposes? Cheers Rowly

    Futon, roofbar, camping bed thingy

Ah, now theres the problem right there.....(somewhere above) Our bed will be in the be-stoved living area. We will have to assemble it once the kiddiwinks have retired to Bedfordshire. Hence some need for a bedroll type do-dah. I fancy one of those 2' deep inflatable jobs but it would have...

    Futon, roofbar, camping bed thingy

All, I have finally managed to get the passenger to go camping. She has succumbed to the idea of "glamping". To this end I reckoned that if I got a pair of roofbars a futon base type thing would double up as a rack. Then stow the mattress rolled on top all safari/adventure like. Thing is...

    Spare wheel above wheel arch

Folks, The spare in the back of my 110 crew cab takes up a lot of the length. Is there a simple bracket that bolts to the side of the pick up rim so that the wheel can sit over the wheel arch? Couldn't find any on the web and even my local guy couldn't think of one. The wheel is big and...

Door won't shut. Simple? advice needed.

Folks, my 03 defender f/n/s door won't slam shut properly. It closes onto the first retainer but then, from the outside, needs a bit of a shove. I'm sure the answer probably lies with fettling about with some sort of adjustment. I've lubed it up but that hasn't fixed it. Anyone know the...

    Chequer plate door cards?

Not to mention the heat retention and glare in the sun and the additional weight to the hinges. Bloody daft idea! Thinner ali might be better, or maybe some fur.....

    Ex-Waterboard Defenders Verdict?

What view have you painted on the inside? Isn't it a bit unnerving when you are driving along and the view doesn't change.....

    Screen bolts.

Following the recent down poor I noticed a good deal of water flows through the screen bolt area (particularly on the off side). As a Summer job thought I'd remove them, clear the rust away and put it all back together. Any time honoured techniques etc? My local LR firm mentioned a black...

    Defender Colour

cottar, what's making that paint sparkle so much? Could it be tiny metal flakes mixed in with the paint and applied to the bodywork? That's special that is. Clearly lovely in a supemarket car park. I see you have a special additional carrier bag roof attachment;)

    Defender Colour

Clearly none of you know what you are talking about. BELIZE green is the only colour to have. And Gilbo09 yours is definitely a light-blue. Hope this helps:rolleyes:

    Replacing lower door rubbers

Folks, I'm going to embark on replacing the rubber strips on the bottom of the four doors. I take it that I drill up through the existing rivets and simply rivet the new ones in place. What of the old rivets? Do I remove the door cards to get the bits out? How easy is removing the door...

    Mountney Steering wheels

Just an update on the fitting of a Mountney steering wheel. Once obtained neither of the Bosses fitted properly. The one with the correct number of splines had such a long mounting collar that we couldn't get the nut to rotate more than a couple of turns. Had to take it to my Brother-in-law...

Noise Reduction in my CSW 110 Defender

Popotla, My NK kit came with two heavy (Think lead lined) shrouds/blankets. One lays over the engine, the other is wrapped around the bell housing. They must make a fifference. Don't know why your kit wouldn't have them. Rowly

    Protectakote

The load area and tailgate were showing signs of wear on my double cab. I decided on a repaint and found info on load bed paints. Found Protectakote which is a Polyurethane paint with recycled tyre bits in it for resistance and grip. Painted it on and looks good. See here:Protectakote - Land...

Noise Reduction in my CSW 110 Defender

Did you use both lead lined engine and transmission blankets? I also have this kit as well as a Disco transfer box. I can sit on a Motorway at 70mph and the noise is remarkably reduced (after 300 miles or so I do end up with a bit of a headache, at 60 no problems at all). At lower speeds it...

    Fitting of Oscillating fans

Hello, Having recently aquired a 110 Double cab I have enjoyed the ability to drive it, elbow out, windows down without the earbashing from the wind that you get from your newfangled modern motors. This has decided me against fitting air con. In traffic though I would like the air to be pushed...

Has anyone tried Protectakote? Was thinking about the DIY application kit. (couldn't find it by searching.)
