Warning light and bell for sls

Hi Dave, thanks for the very helpful reply. I had thought of doing as you suggested but without anyone else suggesting it didn't know if it would just be activity for the sake of it. I'll crack on with it at the weekend and post how It goes after a few days use. Thanks again. Ian

Warning light and bell for sls

Thanks fro the reply. Looks like my problem is unique - so I'd better get down to the local specialist and get the computer fault codes read. Ta. Ian

Warning light and bell for sls

I have searched for this problem but no-one seems to have the same symptoms as my Disco. In normal driving conditions and for no apparent reason teh SLS warning light will come on and the alarm tone sound. There is no evidence that the truck is riding high or low or that the compressor is...

Not doubting you, am very apprehensive about trying this, but could you explain why the copper washers would fail when they have not been moved since the car was built. BTW the smoke is less since cleaning the ecu connector (not hugely but noticeably)power seems very marginally better (could...

Right. It's not the fuel pump or filters. It's not the MAF, new one on and no difference, look out on ebay; it's not the EGR valve - blanking kit on. ECU red connector cleaned as best I can. Turbo spinning and feels smooth. Guess I'll check the turbo hoses next then completely stuck unless I...

Tried it - no difference. Have now also got to the red plug on the ecu and found tons of oil. Tried a clean with rag etc, no cleaner to hand or any other car to use to go and get some, and again no joy. Mate, who is a mechanic, has just had a look and cannot come up with any bright ideas except...

Finally got to the fuel pump, mesh screens and a new fuel filter. All ok. So still no progress. Just moved the car onto the drive again and mountains of black smoke when attempting to rev and won't rev beyond about 3k then drops off again. Any more views? Is this still possibly something to do...

    Gutless td5

Thanks guys. I will try most or all of the suggestions when I get my, now knackered Disco home. I had to abandon it in a pub car park tonight half way home. Very little power and decreasing as I drove along. It was dark but I'm pretty sure that there was some smoke too. Also a slight knocking...

You are correct that it is a new problem and not just looking to improve on standard. I'll try the hoses etc first and work my way through the list. Deffo no misfire, idles well and smoothly and revs freely when in neutral but an absolute shocker when under load so something has changed/broken...

I've tried searching for the answer on here but I haven't been able to find the answer so please forgive me if I've missed it and for asking again. last week driving home over the mountain (if you are in the Isle of Man or visit here then you'll know where I mean but it really isn't important)...

Disco II Air suspension – the definitive guide

Job done - piece of cake thanks to Battenberg's fantastically clear instructions and photo's. Thanks a million - well literally £300 which is what your advice saved me. Ian

Disco II Air suspension – the definitive guide

I hadn't, ordered clips that is, but I have now. Won't attempt the repair until they arrive. Broken too many things and not had spares handy in the past - looks like I'm finally learning. Ian

Thanks guys for your help. Ian

    Window mechanism

Does anyone have a decent diagram/pictures of the electric window mechanism on the disco 2? The Hayne's manual is virtually useless and my disco passenger side window is busted. Basically tries to wind but makes a hell of a racket. Sounds like something is jumping on and off guides, very loud...

Disco II Air suspension – the definitive guide

Hi Battenburg, thanks a million. New bags ordered and eagerly awaited. Have to admit that this is on the assumption that the bags are the problem because the soapy water failed to reveal anything. Compressor definately works. Deflation on right hand side mainly, assumption because that side...

Disco II Air suspension – the definitive guide

Hi Great thread and very helpful, thank you. Could someone point me in the direction of a supplier of the airbags? They will need to offer mail order because I live on the Isle of Many local indy specialist has quoted me £250 per side with the bags at about £200each. Seems kind of steep...
