Hi there. I had something simular to this a while ago with my 1 series Freelander and it was the small filter in the bolt that attaches the fuel pipe to the pump. If you can get the car running try priming it while it's running, if it doesn't cut out it might this. Fingers crossed, Dazzer.

Just to let you know i have solved the problem. For furture reference i cleaned the pickup/sender unit in the tank still no change then i cleaned the small filter inside the bolt on the top of the injector pump and bingo back to normal Dazzer:)

I have tried that and also the air flow meter and still no change.:( Thanks for your input though.:) Still open to any other idea's.

Hi. Can any one help? I have a 1998 L series Diesel freelander. When i get to around 3,000 rpm the engine starts to splutter and blows out smoke and i get a big power loss ( it's like it got a rev limiter at 3,000rpm). I have chaged the fuel filter but it's still the same. It was running...
